Apologies for such a long absence from my blog!!!.
Hello, and may I firstly say sorry for being absolute 'crap' in keeping my blog up to date, and thanks Kate for emailing me to get my act together. To answer your question about "The Music Man", I'm sad to report that all plans of a transfer are on hold. It was looking VERY likely to go into the West End this April, finally (this was back in January), but the producer got cold feet with the recession and all and has put it on hold until this time next year. So, I think it's safe to say we can put it to rest for the meantime anyway.
I have not been acting since 'Ordinary Days' before Christmas but I'm certainly keeping busy what with my new musical theatre school which started back in September www.stageworkstraining.co.uk and my private singing students. Having said that I received a very interesting phone call this morning and all I can say is watch this space! I will hopefully be making an exciting announcement in the next week or two but won't say anything now as it's not firm.
In addition, I have started my next writing project. I'm working on a two-hander musical with my writing partner Mark Goldthorp who is currently in Avenue Q. We wrote a play last year and thought we would try our hand at a musical. It's coming together nicely but it's hard to find time to get together and write.
I went to New York in January for a five day break. I went and saw my friend Scarlett Strallen in Mary Poppins. She was absolutely fantastic! She's such a star. When you buy a drink at the bar they give it to you in a plastic 'sippy' cup with Mary Poppins on it. I think it's a way to make you think that you're getting a deal when you spend $10 on a glass of wine. It's a bit weird drinking wine from a straw but it certainly didn't stop me. I still have the cup. Not sure I'll be using it at the gym or anything but it's a nice keepsake :-)
I had a lovely visit with Scarlett after the show and saw another friend of mine who is dance captain and swing (and was on that night) Suzanne Hylenski, who I did "The Producers" with in London. I also went to see "Shrek the musical" which was a lot of fun despite my jetleg.
And finally, I've been busy training for my half marathon which I plan to do in May. Last Saturday I did an 8 km race. Obviously not to win as there were far better runners than me. But I did well finishing in 35 minutes which I was happy with.
I promise I will make more effort with this blog. It's just that there have been so many things up in the air it's hard to know what to talk about.
Thanks again for all your support.
Kenneth x
